Welcome To Experience of Estrella Jail - Phoenix AZ

I'm not sure who will be interested in the stories of my recent stay at Maricopa County Estrella Jail.  But there are so many stories, some of the stories will be about the treatment as "unsentenced" inmates.  Some stories will be about the all the different Detention Officer's (aka "DO's), and my favorite stories are about the women that I spent time with learning their stories, watching their tears of joy and of sadness.

These stories are not meant to in anyway demean how the current Sheriff operates the jail, however, they might just enlighten of the treatment the unsentenced inmates. So, I only have one question for you how much do you like pink???

I will try to write about my experiences or share a story about one of the inmates each day.

But before I start blogging, I need to begin by thanking my family and friends for all thier support for without them I would have never survived my 32 day stay at Estralla Jail.

  • My husband - my rock who kept me centered and positive.
  • My mother - my mom.  Who on her second visit to me at jail, wore a black and white strip shirt to match me. (True story).  She still loves me - knowing all my faults
  • My sister - who is an angel and loves me - and I hope to repay her for all she has done for me and my family.
  • My best friend - who wrote to me everyday - about silly things and what she did everyday.
Thank you

  1. Was there an officer R. D. Johnson there when you were there? She supposedly got transferred to Madison for flirting with inmates. Well, I was one of the ones she had a "relationship" with, though this was in M dorm, though I started off in Tent City. I spent my 6-month, flat-sentence in Ad-Seg. I was there from 10/30/00 - 4/29/01. I also liked officers Palma, Perez, Vasquez, Espinoza and a few others. I did NOT like Christoffers, Mena, "Barbie," or "Misery." My husband was a great support to me while I was in too, always making sure to visit, write letters, send pictures, and keep my commissary money stocked up. I have kept a journal since 1987. I would write several pages and mail them home to my husband to wait to be typed up when I got home. I have a list of all the DOs and cellies I had. I will give it to you in another comment post. Maybe some will ring a bell for you.

  3. I didn't see any way to leave a comment about those delicious breakfasts, which by the way, ended towards the end of my sentence. Yeah, greedy Joe cut breakfast out altogether. I remember those horrid oranges too. I love the color pink, but I HATE oranges!
